Responsible and judicious use of antibiotics (vetrinarian)

When the decision is reached to use antimicrobials for treatment, control, or prevention of disease, veterinarians should strive to optimize therapeutic efficacy and minimize resistance to antimicrobials to protect public and animal health and well-being . AVMA

Responsible and judicious use of antibiotics (vetrinarian)

The judicious use of antibiotics requires the effective prevention or treatment of diseases by the veterinarian who is concerned with limiting the occurrence of antibiotic resistance and ensuring the absence of antibiotic residues in meat for human consumption. Thus, he must choose the right antibiotic for the targeted bacterium, respect the parameters of dosage, route of administration, duration of treatment and withdrawal time, while taking into account the economic context of the owner of the animal(s).
