Multidrug resistance (multiple drug resistance) is considered through the CIPARS report designating the phenotypes that display resistance to more than one structurally unrelated class of antimicrobials regardless of the resistance mechanisms involved. This can be resulting from cross-resistance and/or co-resistance mechanisms. CIPARS (2005)
